In response to Milla's recent post, I have to throw my quarter into the collection plate.
I am not for or against this war. I am almost completely neutral on the subject. It isn't because I'm a vicious person, or because I like the thought of war.
If Saddam Hussein had given President Bush the forty-eight hour ultimatum, you could bet for sure Hussein would have attacked had his orders not been followed. The United States has given him ridiculous amounts of time to disarm, and he hasn't. This isn't about the Iraqi people. This is about Saddam Hussein screwing his people over. Any true leader would sacrifice himself to save his people from harm.
Bottom line: the United States is not attacking the Iraqi people. They are attacking Saddam Hussein and his followers. Yes, people will get killed, and it makes me feel awful. Almost ashamed. Yes, I think the President should have given Iraq one last chance to disarm.
On the other hand, I completely understand what Milla has to say. And if there were anti-war rallies in Utah, I would probably be at one. Not because I don't agree with the cause, but because I don't agree with the violence.
(Note for Kyler: This is my uneducated opinion. This is a pre-emptive measure so you won't try to debate with me.)
Also: Alex is in New York right now, and there is a protest going on in Times Square. I hope he saw some of it, because I want to hear about it like nobody's business.
